In looking at breast augmentation cost, a number of different variables must be taken into consideration. This is necessary in order to arrive an an overall “broad” view of what costs are involved in having breast augmentation or breast implant surgery, beyond just the initial cost of the surgery itself.
The reason for this is that breast augmentation cost is not a one-time fee. Certainly there is a one time fee or bill for the initial breast implants surgery, but this does not take into considerations all the other expenses a woman has to pay for related to breast augmentation.
Let’s start with the surgery itself. Breast augmentation costs include the fee for the breast implants (which would be either silicone based or saline based), the fee for the anesthesia (and along with it, a fee for the anesthesioligist) used during the surgery, a facility fee charged for the use of the facility (common at hospitals and private practices), and finally, the fee for the surgeon. All the fees prior to the surgeon fee tend to cost less than $1,000 each, whereas the cosmetic surgeon’s fee can add onto the bill considerably. More specifically, the breast implants cost around $1,000, the anesthesia anywhere from $500 to $1,000, and the facility fee is about the same, being billed at anywhere from $500 to $1,000. As always, understand that prices vary facility to facility, and the overall location plays an important factor too. For example, a surgeon in a high class part of Los Angeles, whose office is located in a very high price real estate area, is certainly going to have higher prices than someone in a less costly area of town.
Adding it all up, breast augmentation cost varies from about $4,000 to $10,000. The estimate ranging from $4,000 all the way up to $10,000 is so varied in large part due to how much or how little the surgeons fee is. A future patient researching different cosmetic surgery prices and fees should be sure to look into how much the facility charges insofar as the surgeons fee goes, since this is the most expensive “wild card” factor for breast augmentation cost.
As hinted at in the introduction, there are other fees associated with breast augmentation. We will take a look at these fees in a different article, starting with fees related to MRI’s which are needed to check up on breast implant ruptures.
